Parkinson’s disease is a progressive nervous system disorder that affects movement. It may start slowly with a slight shaking in a hand. Then you may have stiffness in  walking or moving. Your facial expressions may slow and your speech may be slurred.

According to the Mayo Clinic, Parkinson’s disease can’t be cured, but medications might significantly improve your symptoms. Occasionally, your doctor may suggest surgery to regulate certain regions of your brain and improve your symptoms.

Parkinson’s is caused when the cells than produce dopamine die prematurely. Dopamine is produced in the part of the brain called the substantia nigra.

More and more people are being diagnosed as having Parkinson’s disease, but new ways are being discovered to treat it. Now, the more popular way to treat it is to use the prescription drug Sinemet. This drug contains the amino acid L-dopa which increases the amount of dopamine. The problem is that it has many dangerous side effects.

It also had a second problem. It didn’t prevent the pre-mature dying of the dopamine cells in the brain.

To be effective doctors have to give the patient large doses of L-dopa. As the dose is increased, the side effects get worse. It was a catch twenty two. Then Dr. Marty Hinz found a way to solve this problem. Since when one neurotransmitter is increased, the other neurotransmitter where decreased. Dr. Hinz discovered that all the side effects of L-dopa were the result of the decreased in the other neurotransmitters.

As a result, Dr. Hinz found that by increasing the amounts of the other neurotransmitters using amino acids, the side effects of L-dopa were eliminated. He could give patients large amounts of L-dopa to eliminate the symptoms of Parkinson’s, Since everyone is different, each individual had to be examined to determine the correct amount of the amino acids to give the patients.

However t that didn’t solve the problem of the the pre-mature death of the dopamine producing cells in the brain. Dr. Hinz decided to also administer sulfur-containing amino acids to prevent the pre-mature dying of the dopamine producing cells.

This is a time consuming therapy. It will take months to determine the correct amount of amino acids to administer and it cost about $300 to $500 per  treatment. However when it finally works, it happens fast.

If you are concerning about preventing Parkinson’s disease, avoid pesticides and herbicides. Also try to eat organic food. Reports show that you can reduce your chance of getting Parkinson’s by more than 50% by eliminating pesticides and herbicides.
