As she was golfing, she was unaware that she coming down on her swing and was snapping her back. Soon she developed slight back pain.
Then she was offered a role on the “Love of Life” TV soap opera. She had to choose between being a golfer and being an actress. She chose acting.
When Amy was just 14, she received an Emmy Award for on “Love of Live”. She then starred in “The Young and the Restless” and “General Hospital”. During this time she had a car accident and a water skiing accident. Her back pain became unbearable. She had seven herniated disks.
Amy couldn’t work any more and she became immobilized with back pain. She was incapacitated and needed help with everything. She couldn’t walk or get out of bed without help.
All the doctors she visited told her that she needed back surgery. They told her that she would probably spend the rest of her life in a wheel chair. All the odds were against her having a good recovery.
Finally, in desperation, she decided to try alternative medicine. She found Dr. Marc Darrow who suggested prolotherapy for her back pain. He took some MRIs and the showed that she could not be helped by normal means.
Dr. Darrow felt that her pain was caused by a weak ligament in Amy’s back and not the result of her ruptured disks. He felt that prolotherapy would help to heal that problem.
With prolotherapy, a solution of sugar water is injected into the injured area to cause inflammation. Inflammation is the nature’s way to heal an injury. Amy started the therapy.
There was no change the first two weeks. After the third week, Amy woke up one morning and felt a strange feeling in her back. The prolotherapy was working.
Dr. Darrow suggested that Amy start physical therapy with Patricia Toffet Crosby. He also suggested that she see a chiropractor.
Amy made astonishing progress and is now living a normal life. She can walk two miles to exercise, rides a bike, and even went sky diving. She has started her own business and is very successful.
